Custom Home Construction in Metro Atlanta

Building a home is the largest project most families ever take on, and it should be led by a builder who treats it that way. JMJ Construction Group builds custom homes and new construction across metro Atlanta, whether you own a lot, are buying one, or are replacing an existing structure with a new home designed around your family.

We bring three decades of combined construction experience to the whole process: site evaluation, design coordination, permitting, structure, and every finish trade through final walkthrough. The same team that builds new homes also handles major whole-home remodels and additions, so the standard is consistent across everything we build.

A builder who answers for the whole project

Custom homes and build-on-your-lot

Whether you already own land or are still searching, we build fully custom, ground-up homes designed around your site and your life. Build-on-your-lot projects start with a real site evaluation, utilities, grading, access, and any restrictions, before design begins, so the home that gets drawn is the home that can actually be built there.

  • Fully custom, ground-up homes
  • Build on your own lot
  • Tear-down and rebuild of an aging structure
  • Site evaluation: utilities, grading, access, restrictions

Pre-construction, design, and budget

The smoothest builds are won in pre-construction. We coordinate plans, finalize selections, and produce a detailed budget before the first shovel hits the ground — so decisions are made deliberately, not under pressure mid-build. We can work from plans you already have or coordinate design as part of the process.

Throughout, you work with one accountable team that owns the schedule and the trades, rather than juggling a general contractor, a designer, and a string of subs yourself.

  • Plan coordination and selections
  • Detailed pre-construction budgeting
  • Permitting, grading, and foundation
  • One point of accountability through handover

Built to a consistent standard

Because the same JMJ team handles new construction, additions, and remodels, the quality you see in our finished homes is the quality we hold on every project. We build to last, proper structure, careful detailing, and finishes installed right, and we walk the completed home with you before you ever move in.

What goes into building a home

New construction is priced per square foot, but that number swings widely. These are the factors that move it.

  • Finish level: the gap between builder-grade and luxury finishes is enormous
  • Site work: grading, access, utilities, and foundation type all affect cost
  • Design complexity: rooflines, ceilings, and custom millwork add labor
  • Size and lot: square footage and whether you already own land both matter
  • Selections: your choices across the home shape the final budget

Accountability is the difference

The difference between a smooth build and a stressful one is accountability. With JMJ, one team owns the schedule, the trades, and the result.

Home building questions, answered

How much does it cost to build a house in Georgia?

New construction is usually discussed per square foot, but that number varies widely depending on your finish level, site conditions, and design complexity. Builder-grade and luxury builds are worlds apart. Rather than quoting a generic figure, we scope your specific home and land in a free consultation and provide a detailed estimate.

Can you build on a lot I already own?

Yes, build-on-your-lot projects are a core part of what we do. We start by evaluating the site, utilities, and any restrictions, then design and build the home that fits your land and budget.

How long does it take to build a custom home?

Most custom homes take roughly nine to fifteen months from permit to move-in, depending on size, complexity, weather, and material availability. We give you a realistic schedule during pre-construction and update you at every phase.

Do I need my own architect and plans?

Not necessarily. We coordinate design and plans as part of the process and can also work from plans you already have. Either way, one team manages design through construction. Some clients start with a major whole-home remodel instead of a new build.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. JMJ Construction Group holds a Georgia general contractor license (GCI000260) and carries liability coverage through Next Insurance, with documentation available upon request.

Is the consultation free?

Yes. Your initial consultation and project estimate are free. We'd rather invest the time up front to make sure the project, budget, and timeline are right for you.
